log3set_pevman(1M) log3set_pevman(1M)
NAME
log3setpevman - send a notification to the event management daemon
SYNOPSIS
$LOGPATH/bin/log3setpevman -a
$LOGPATH/bin/log3setpevman -d Event-Name
$LOGPATH/bin/log3setpevman -r Event-Name
$LOGPATH/bin/log3setpevman -s Event-Description-File
DESCRIPTION
The log3setpevman command can be used to give a notification to the
event management daemon. The notification is analyzed by the event
management daemon and then acted upon.
OPTIONS
-a The event management daemon is forced to reread the
$LOGPATH/filters/log3event.object, following the steps outlined
below:
- The event is already being monitored by the event management
daemon and a description can also be found in the
log3event.object file.
The event parameters are assigned new values on a selective
basis. Threshold monitoring is sustained for the event.
- The event is already being monitored by the event management
daemon, but there is no description to be found in the
log3event.object file.
Threshold monitoring for the event is removed from the event
management administration and the event is no longer being
monitored.
- An event is not being monitored by the event management dae-
mon, but a description can be found in the log3event.object
file.
Threshold monitoring for the event is reestablished.
-d Event-Name
If an event of the same name is being monitored by the event
management daemon, threshold monitoring for the given name is
removed from the event management administration and no longer
exists for the event management daemon. Threshold monitoring can
only be resumed using the -s option or by stopping and starting
the event management daemon.

-r Event-Name
If an event of the same name is being monitored by the event
management daemon, threshold monitoring for the given name is
reset and then started again.
-s Event-Description-File
The event description file, which uniquely describes the moni-
tored event with the event description parameters, is given to
the event management daemon. Two different situations can be dis-
tinguished here:
1) Event already being monitored
If an event with the same name as in the event description
file is already being monitored by the event management dae-
mon, the event description parameters of the monitored event
are modified.
2) Event not yet being monitored
If no event with the same name as in the event description
file is being monitored by the event management daemon, thres-
hold monitoring for the described event is reestablished and
started.
RETURN VALUES
The normal return value of the command is 0 and in the event of errors
is not equal to 0.
