killall(1M) killall(1M)
NAME
killall - kill all active processes
SYNOPSIS
/usr/sbin/killall [signal]
DESCRIPTION
killall is used by /usr/sbin/shutdown to kill all active processes not
directly related to the shutdown procedure.
killall terminates all processes with open files so that the mounted
file systems will be unbusied and can be unmounted.
killall sends signal [see kill(1)] to all processes not belonging to
the above group of exclusions. If no signal is specified, a default of
15 (SIGTERM) is used.
The killall command can be run only by the superuser.
LOCALE
The LCMESSAGES environment variable governs the language in which
message texts are displayed.
If LCMESSAGES is undefined or is defined as the null string, it
defaults to the value of LANG. If LANG is likewise undefined or null,
the system acts as if it were not internationalized.
If any of the locale variables has an invalid value, the system acts
as if none of the variables was set.
The LCALL environment variable governs the entire locale. LCALL
takes precedence over all the other environment variables which affect
internationalization.
