dcopy(1M) dcopy(1M)
NAME
dcopy - copy file systems for optimal access time
SYNOPSIS
dcopy [-F FSType] [-V] [genericoptions] [-o specificoptions] inputfs
outputfs
DESCRIPTION
dcopy copies file system inputfs to outputfs. inputfs is the device
file for the existing file system whereas outputfs is the device file
to hold the reorganized result. For the most effective optimization,
inputfs should be the raw device and outputfs should be the block de-
vice. Both inputfs and outputfs should be unmounted file systems.
There are two types of option: genericoptions and specificoptions.
genericoptions indicate options that are supported not only by the
generic but also by the FST-specific module of the command (if that
command exists). specificoptions indicate suboptions that are sup-
ported only by the FST-specific module of the command. They are speci-
fied in a comma-separated list and/or as keyword-attribute pairs for
interpretation by the FST-specific module of the command. These subop-
tions are specified via the -o option.
OPTIONS
The genericoptions are:
-F Specifies the FSType on which to operate. The FSType should either
be specified here or should be determined from /etc/vfstab by
matching the inputfs (device) with an entry in the table.
-V Echoes the complete command line, but does not execute the com-
mand. The command line is generated using the options and argu-
ments provided by the user, supplemented by information derived
from /etc/vfstab. This option should be used to verify and vali-
date the command line. When used with the FSType option, it passes
the -V to the FSType-specific module for interpretation.
-o Specifies FSType-specific options.
NOTE
This command may not be supported for all FSTypes.
