contmerg(1M) contmerg(1M)
NAME
contmerg - merge contents files
SYNOPSIS
contmerg contentsold
DESCRIPTION
The contmerg command is used to merge a contentsold file with the
standard contents file. If the object names in both contents files are
the same, the entry in the standard contents file is regarded as being
more recent. The package and class affiliations from the contentsold
file are always preserved however.
The contentsold file must be specified as a full path name.
The command is used to speed up the operating system update: Before
the update, the contents file is renamed contentsold and the new
contents file that results from the update is merged with contentsold
using the contmerg command.
