wcheck(1) wcheck(1)
NAME
wcheck - search for modified files (write check)
SYNOPSIS
wcheck[ option]
DESCRIPTION
wcheck lists all the files belonging to the user which have been modi-
fied between the last logout and the login for the current session.
When a user logs into the system for the very first time, the last
logout is defined as January 1 1970, 1:00 am.
The wcheck command should be entered in the .profile file for security
reasons. Users can then check each time they log in that their files
have not been manipulated in the meantime.
If a file which has been modified or read in the specified timespan is
changed or read again during the current session, the time stamp is
renewed. wcheck then no longer recognizes this file as having been
changed. wcheck should therefore be called immediately after system
login.
OPTIONS
-a wcheck also lists those files which have been read between the
last logout and the login for the current session.
