rmail(1) rmail(1)
NAME
rmail - send mail
SYNOPSIS
rmail[ -tw][ -m messagetype] recipient ...
DESCRIPTION
rmail is a restricted version of mail that only permits the sending of
mail. uucp uses rmail as a security precaution. If you are writing an
application which generates mail messages, you should always use rmail
instead of mail.
The functionality of rmail is identical to the functionality of mail
in send mode.
LOCALE
The LCMESSAGES environment variable governs the language in which
message texts are displayed.
LCCTYPE governs character classes and character conversion (shift-
ing).
LCCOLLATE governs the collating sequence.
The LCTIME environment variable governs the format of date and time
strings.
If LCMESSAGES, LCCTYPE, LCCOLLATE or LCTIME is undefined or is
defined as the null string, it defaults to the value of LANG. If LANG
is likewise undefined or null, the system acts as if it were not
internationalized.
The LCALL environment variable governs the entire locale. LCALL
takes precedence over all the other environment variables which affect
internationalization.
If any of the locale variables has an invalid value, the system acts
as if none of the variables were set.
