sliplogin(1M) Version 1.0(08-30-90) sliplogin(1M)
NAME
sliplogin - SLIP login shell.
SYNOPSIS
/usr/sbin/sliplogin interface
DESCRIPTION
Sliplogin is used as a login shell to conveniently initiate a SLIP
(Serial Line Internet Protocol) network connection on an interactive
basis. Use the slipdialout command to establish the initial connection
over modem or direct line. In general, a user slip would be created
using the sysadm command with a uid of zero and a login shell of
/usr/sbin/sliplogin. After successfully logging into the remote host as
user slip, sliplogin will prompt for the local and remote SLIP Internet
host names. Either the actual host name or Internet number in standard
dot notation may be used. After both host names are entered, sliplogin
will run the slipon command to start SLIP running on the remote machine.
At this point, escape back to the local machine and start SLIP. Use the
slipdetach command to terminate the SLIP connection.
