NAME
       audio8 - AViiON series workstation 8-bit audio interface (88K only)

DESCRIPTION
       This manual page describes the device driver for the 8-bit audio
       interface.

       This device driver supports the 8-bit audio interface for the Data
       General AViiON series workstations.  The 8-bit audio interface is
       accessed using the standard open, close, and ioctl system calls.  The
       8-bit audio interface provides voice grade audio input/output for the
       AViiON series workstations. The maximum sample rate is 8KHz.

       The open system call provides a handle to access the audio interface.

       The close system call frees the handle to the audio interface
       established by open.

       The ioctl system call has the following form:

            int ioctl(fildes, command, argument);
            int     fildes;
            int     command;
            int     argument;

       It can be used with the following commands:

       DEVAUDIO8MAPSRAM
              Maps the audio subsystem interface into user memory pointed to
              by argument.
