NAME
       svcmgr - DG/UX service manager

SYNOPSIS
       svcmgr

DESCRIPTION
       The svcmgr program provides a menu interface to AV/Alert parameters
       and diagnostic utilities. You must have the appropriate privilege to
       access this program.  svcmgr is the primary means for controlling and
       monitoring AV/Alert; its Main menu provides quick access to the
       following support options:
            1.) Viewing Status on your AV/Alert System
            2.) Setting Up AV/Alert Configuration Parameters
            3.) Sending AV/Alert Messages
            4.) Viewing Error Management Information

       svcmgr optionally provides menu-based tools for exercising cpu,
       memory, disk, and tape hardware subsystems while DG/UX is running.
       The on-line tests exercise these subsystems by working through
       standard DG/UX drivers.

       It is recommended that this program should only be invoked by a Data
       General Field Service Representative or by the system administrator
       under the guidance of a Data General Customer Support Center
       Representative.

                             File used by AV/Alert components to support
                             earlier model AViiON equipment

       /var/adm/dgsvcmgr/dgsvcdlog
                             Fixed length logfile for AV/Alert activity

       /var/adm/dgsvcmgr/.dftthreshold
                             File containing default threshold values

       /var/adm/dgsvcmgr/.threshold
                             File containing actual threshold values

       /var/adm/dgsvcmgr/.svcmgrdata
                             File containing customized AV/Alert data


DIAGNOSTICS
       If svcmgr fails, the program will exit with an error message stating
