NAME
uucp - overview of UUCP
DESCRIPTION
UUCP stands for Unix-to-Unix CoPy. It is a collection of programs
that let UNIX systems communicate with each other.
The DG/UX system uses the HoneyDanBer version of UUCP. On the DG/UX
system, UUCP can run on a LAN, a synchronous modem, or an
asynchronous modem. The LAN can be Ethernet, Token Ring, or FDDI.
Running on a synchronous modem requires X.25 and TCP/IP or the XXX
(X.3, X.28, and X.29) protocols. The following figure shows DG/UX
UUCP layering:
+-------------------------------------------------------------------+
| UUCP |
|-------------------------------------------------------------------|
| TCP/IP | XXX | | |
| -------------------------| | |
| | X.25 | | |
|---------------------------------------| asynchronous | direct |
| LAN connection | synchronous modem | modem | connection |

uustat(1) Control UUCP jobs or inquire about status
uux(1) Execute a command on a remote UNIX system
uucico(1M) Handle uucp file transfers
