NAME
termprinter - lp interface script to Terminal Server printer

SYNOPSIS
       /usr/lib/lp/model/termprinter

DESCRIPTION
The termprinter interface script is used to print files to a printer
connected to a DG model 40014A Terminal server. If you are using a
Datability VCP 300/1000 TCP Series Termserver, refer to datability(1)
for specific information. This script is invoked by the lp scheduler
(lpsched) daemon with a list of files to print. The script generates
the printer initialization sequences, the banner page and filtered
file output to a temporary file. This file is then sent to the
terminal server using the /usr/lib/lp/bin/lp.termprinter interface
       program.

The termprinter script uses 2 environment variables to determine the
destination address of the printer. The DGNETWORKHOST variable
contains the host name found in the hosts database (e.g. /etc/hosts
or YP) for the terminal server. The DGNETWORKPORT variable
identifies the port number or network services alias name. These
variables are setup by lpsched and passed to the lp.termprinter
       program by the termprinter script.

To configure a printer on a terminal server, you should use the
sysadm(1M) utility and select the "Remote networked printer device"
connection type. Sysadm will prompt you for the host name and port
number. You can also use the lpadmin(1M) command with the
-Uhost%port option to assign the host name and port number.

Refer to the "40014A Terminal Server AViiON Release Notice" or
"TermServer Software TCP/IP w/SNMP Release Notice" for further
       information.
