wmt(7) DG/UX 4.30 wmt(7)
NAME
wmt - pseudo WORM (Write Once Read Multiple optical device)
as magnetic tape device interface
DESCRIPTION
This character special device provides indirect access to
files on a WORM. The interface conforms to the semantics
followed by character special tape (rmt). Use the open(2)
system call to open any of the /dev/wmt/* special files and
perform I/O on them as if they were tape devices.
The wmt daemon wmtd(1M) provides the mapping between pseudo
tape device and the physical WORM device. Arguments passed
to the wmt daemon on startup define the mapping.
To create the wmt special files, the device driver entry
wmt() must be listed in the system(4) file before
configuring the system. Configuration variables exist in
the master(4) file dgux and in the system(4) file to control
the number of wmt special files created.
The wmtd(1M) server must be running for any of the wmt
special files to be successfully opened.
FILES
/dev/wmt/* Tape device names for character special access.
/etc/master.d/dgux Main DG/UX master file.
