     NAME
          pwck, grpck - password/group file checkers

     SYNOPSIS
          /etc/pwck [file]
          /etc/grpck [file]

     DESCRIPTION
          Pwck scans the password file file and notes any
          inconsistencies.  It validates the number of fields, login
          name, user ID, and group ID and checks whether the login
          directory and optional program name exist.  The criteria for
          determining a valid login name are described in Installing
          and Managing the DG/UX System.  The default password file is
          /etc/passwd.

          Grpck verifies all entries in the group file.  It checks the
          number of fields, group name, group ID, and whether all
          login names appear in the password file.  The default group
          file is /etc/group.
