odrt Special File
asynchronous terminal I/O device
_________________________________________________________________
DESCRIPTION
The odrt device is present in MV1400, MV2000DC, and DS/7000
series systems and provides either 4 or 10 terminal I/O lines.
Line characteristics are described in the table below; 4-line
odrts have only lines 0-3:
Line # Characteristics
0 modem control line
1 console interface emulation (see below)
2-3 normal (no modem control)
4 modem control line
5-9 normal (no modem control)
On MV2000DC and DS/7000 series systems, no physical console
interface (see con(7)) is provided. Rather, the physical console
device is emulated on either bmd unit 0 (see bmd(7)) or odrt line
1. If the odrt is not emulating the console, line 1 is a normal
I/O line with no modem control.
If the odrt is emulating the console, line 1 serves as the
console and is accessible only through the /dev/syscon interface
(see syscon(7)). The syscon odrt is placed into SCP (System
Control Program) mode by pressing the BREAK key three times in
succession. The prompt SCP-CLI> indicates that the processor is
awaiting SCP commands. To return to normal operation from SCP
mode, type CONT and press New Line.
The behavior of the syscon odrt is described in syscon(7). Non-
syscon lines provide the standard DG/UX terminal interfaces
(termio(7), tty(7)). The baud rate 38400 is not supported. The
device-specific baud rates EXTA and EXTB correspond to baud rates
of 75 and 2000, respectively.
