Eclipse MV/family intelligent asynchronous controller
_________________________________________________________________
DESCRIPTION
An iac is an intelligent asynchronous terminal I/O controller
that controls a number of terminal lines. The controllers
supported are as follows:
Model # Name # Lines Lines with modem control
4357,4359 IAC8 8 All
4358,4360 IAC16 16 None
4543 MCP1 8 0,1
4560 LAC12 12 10,11
5093 LMC8 8 All
Intelligent controllers are actually processors that perform I/O
processing according to the tty modes in effect for each line.
It is necessary for the system administrator to load the iac
resident code image into iac memory before lines controlled by
the iac can be used (see iacload(1M)).
Terminals controlled by iacs present the standard DG/UX terminal
interfaces described in termio(7) and tty(7). All model iacs
support all specified baud rates, with the following restrictions
and extensions. Some older IAC8s and IAC16s cannot support 38400
baud I/O, so for these older controllers, a request to select
that baud rate is ignored. For IAC8s and IAC16s, the driver-
specific baud rates EXTA and EXTB are 50 and 75 baud,
respectively. For MCP1s and LAC12s, 38400 baud I/O is not
supported; EXTA and EXTB correspond to baud rates of 75 and 2000,
respectively.
