errdemon
error-logging demon
_________________________________________________________________
SYNTAX
/usr/lib/errdemon [ file ] [-v]
DESCRIPTION
The error logging demon errdemon collects error records from the
operating system by reading the special file /dev/error and
places them in file. If you omit file, /usr/adm/errfile is used
when the demon is activated. Note that file is created if it
does not exist; otherwise, error records are appended to it, so
that no previous error data is lost. Errdemon does not analyze
the error records; errpt(1M) does. The error-logging demon is
terminated by sending it a software kill signal (see kill(1)).
Only the superuser can start the demon, and only one demon can be
active at any time.
If you use the -v option, and errpt-format record will be written
to the system console each time the errdemon reads an error
record.
