MODIFY
Select (Select, KP4) If the current item requires special action to be modified (such as editing a file, or selecting from a list of allowed values), perform the required action. A message is displayed if modification of the item does not require any special action. To view the keypad diagram, press the HELP key. For help on a key, press the key. DEFINE
Do (Do, PF4) Send the current form to the dictionary as a definition. To view the keypad diagram, press the HELP key. For help on a key, press the key. To return to editing, press the spacebar.
INSERT_HERE
Insert Here (Insert Here, KP8) Move an item from the optional menu to the form. If the optional menu is empty, it will not be displayed. Switch (PF1-Insert Here, PF1-KP8) Switch from editing FIELD to editing RECORD, or vice versa. The status line indicates whether the current edit session is editing FIELD or RECORD. REMOVE
Remove (Remove, KP9) Move an item from the form to the optional menu. This key only functions if the value being removed is not required or owned by another value. When Diagnostic Mode (see the help for KP1) is ON, an informational message is displayed, telling why the item may not be removed. To view the keypad diagram, press the HELP key. UP
Up (Up arrow, KP5) Move up an item. To view the keypad diagram, press the HELP key. For help on a key, press the key. To return to editing, press the spacebar.
LEFT
Left (Left arrow, KP1, Ctrl/D) Move left a character, if the current item is modifiable. If the item is not modifiable, the cursor will not move. To view the keypad diagram, press the HELP key. For help on a key, press the key. To return to editing, press the spacebar.
KP1_LEFT
Left (Left arrow, KP1, Ctrl/D) Move left a character, if the current item is modifiable. If the item is not modifiable, the cursor will not move. Diagnostic Mode (PF1-KP1) Toggle diagnostics. The status line indicates whether or not diagnostics are turned ON or OFF. When diagnostics are ON, all the values in the form will be examined to see if they can properly be converted to the datatype that will be required by the dictionary. If any error in conversion has occurred, the message describing the error appears below the value's name. To view the keypad diagram, press the HELP key. For help on a key, press the key. DOWN
Down (Down arrow, KP2, Ctrl/I, Tab, Ctrl/M, Enter) Move down an item. To view the keypad diagram, press the HELP key. For help on a key, press the key. To return to editing, press the spacebar.
KP2_DOWN
Down (Down arrow, KP2, Ctrl/I, Tab, Ctrl/M, ENTER) Move down an item. Prompt (PF1-KP2) Toggle the prompt display. The status line indicates whether prompts are turned ON or OFF. When the prompt display is ON, informational messages about the current value being modified are displayed at the top of the screen. To view the keypad diagram, press the HELP key. RIGHT
Right (Right arrow, KP3, Ctrl/F) Move right a character, if the current value is modifiable. If the current value is not modifiable, the cursor will not move. To view the keypad diagram, press the HELP key. For help on a key, press the key. To return to editing, press the spacebar.
KP3_RIGHT
Right (Right arrow, KP3, Ctrl/F) Move right a character, if the current value is modifiable. If the current value is not modifiable, the cursor will not move. Read From Dictionary (KP3) Turns Read From Dictionary on or off. The status line indicates whether Read From Dictionary is turned ON or OFF. When Read From Dictionary is ON, a change in the item 'PROCESSING NAME' causes editor to attempt to read new item values from the dictionary, using the new value of the item 'PROCESSING NAME' as the name of a dictionary element. If a dictionary element is found, the form will change to reflect the element found. If no dictionary element is found, the form remains the same, retaining the new value given to the item 'PROCESSING NAME'. To view the keypad diagram, press the HELP key. NEXT_SCREEN
Next Screen (Next Screen, KP0) If the cursor is not at the bottom of the form, move the cursor to the item displayed at the bottom of the form. If the cursor is at the bottom of the form, and the 'more below' indicator is visible, scroll the form up to display the next screenful of items. To view the keypad diagram, press the HELP key. PREV_SCREEN
Prev Screen (Prev Screen, Period) If the cursor is not at the top of the form, move the cursor to the item displayed at the top of the form. If the cursor is at the top of the form, and the 'more above' indicator is visible, scroll the form down to display the previous screenful of items. To view the keypad diagram, press the HELP key. CTRLA
Ctrl/A (F14, Ctrl/A) Toggle insert / overstrike mode. This has the same function as the DCL Ctrl/A key. To view the keypad diagram, press the HELP key. For help on a key, press the key. To return to editing, press the spacebar.
CTRLE
Ctrl/E (Ctrl/E) Move the cursor to the end of the current item's value. This has the same function as the DCL Ctrl/E key. To view the keypad diagram, press the HELP key. For help on a key, press the key. To return to editing, press the spacebar.
CTRLH
Ctrl/H (Backspace, F12, Ctrl/H) Move the cursor to the beginning of the current item's value. This has the same functionality as the DCL Ctrl/H key. To view the keypad diagram, press the HELP key. For help on a key, press the key. To return to editing, press the spacebar.
CTRLJU
Ctrl/U (F13, Ctrl/J, Ctrl/U) Erase from the cursor position to the beginning of the current item's value. This has the same functionality as the DCL Ctrl/U key. To view the keypad diagram, press the HELP key. For help on a key, press the key. To return to editing, press the spacebar.
EXIT

DELETE

NO_HELP
No help for this key. The key just pressed is either a printable character, or has no function within the component of the editor from which help was invoked. To view the keypad diagram, press the HELP key. For help on a key, press the key. To return to editing, press the spacebar.
MENU_SELECT
Select (Select, Enter, Return, Ctrl/M) Replace the current item's value with the text highlighted by the menu cursor. To view the keypad diagram, press the HELP key. For help on a key, press the key. To return to editing, press the spacebar.
MENU_CANCEL

The name of the field definition, record definition, or view you want to create.
Example
This command invokes the CDO editor for the purpose of creating a field definition. Since no name is specified for the field definition, the editor will prompt the user for the name: CDO> EDIT FIELD
