XLPSRC(1) — Commands
NAME
xlpsrc − Motif application for remote console access to Digital PrintServer printers
SYNOPSIS
xlpsrc [ −h hostname ] [ Motif-options ... ]
DESCRIPTION
The xlpsrc program provides a graphical user interface to the remote console capabilities of a PrintServer printer.
APPEARANCE
xlpsrc is visually composed of four areas which are stacked vertically in the following order:
Printer status area
Control panel area
Command input/output area
Event log area
WIDGET DESCRIPTION
The xlpsrc user interface is comprised of many Motif widgets, each performing one of the functions defined above. This section defines each widgets name, type, function, range of values and the default value if appropriate. Some familiarity with Motif widgets is assumed, for more detailed information about the operation of widgets see the Motif User Interface Guide.
OPTIONS
Normally the only option of interest is the −h hostname option that allows for direct specification of the internet hostname or host address of the target PrintServer printer. If this option is not specified, then you will be prompted for the hostname or address when xlpsrc starts up.
xlpsrc supports a large number of X Window and Motif options to set the initial values of the controlling parameters. When an option is used the value is reflected in the initial state of the corresponding widget. Descriptions of the default values for the controlling parameters is given above in the widget section. Due to Motif’s method of processing options a space MUST exist between the option character and any following argument.
RESTRICTIONS
The target PrintServer printer must be connected to a lpsad(8) management client daemon before access to all help information is available. Furthermore, this daemon must be providing configuration services to the printer for the printer to be able to fetch the desired help information.
ENVIRONMENT
The UIDPATH environment variable is used to determine the path of the required UIL interface definition file. The location of this file varies from system to system, but is often found in /usr/lib/X11/uid/xlpsrc.uid; consult your system’s X Window and/or Motif documentation for details on this directory location.
The default X applications resource file for xlpsrc is called XLpsrc. The X application resource directory can be specified using the XAPPLRESDIR environment variable.
FILES
XLpsrc is the main resource file for xlpsrc(1) and by default it resides in the X application resource directory, typically /usr/lib/X11/app-defaults. xlpsrc.uid is the UIL interface definition file as specified through the UIDPATH environment variable. This file is normally installed in the directory typically used for UIL files; if no such directory exists, then the file is usually installed in /usr/lib/X11/app-defaults.

DIAGNOSTICS
Fatal internal errors cause the program to output diagnostic messages on stderr and terminate immediately. Non fatal errors cause warning messages to be output to the command input/output area and the program continues.
