The Log Manager Control Program (LMCP) is the utility used to
    create and maintain transaction log files.

    Utility. To invoke LMCP, enter the  following  command  in  response
    to  the  DCL prompt:

    $ RUN SYS$SYSTEM:LMCP

    The utility responds with the prompt:

    LMCP>

    After you invoke LMCP, you can enter HELP on any of the LMCP commands.
