EVE CHANGE_DIRECTION — VMS 5.4

 CHANGE DIRECTION

Changes the direction of the buffer---either forward (to the right and
down) or reverse (to the left and up).

 Keys: EVE Default VT100 Keypad
        ---------------------------------
        F11 PF3

 Usage notes:

o The direction of the buffer is shown in the status line. To toggle the
direction, click MB1 on the Forward or Reverse indicator. See help on
    Status Line.

o The direction of the buffer affects the following commands and keys:

EVE Commands EDT Keys WPS Keys
    ------------ ---------- ------------------------
FIND Char (KP3) Continue Search (GOLD-.)
FIND NEXT EOL (KP2) Cont Search/Select (GOLD-?)
FIND SELECTED FndNxt (PF3) WPS Line (KP2 or GOLD-KP2)
MOVE BY LINE EDT Line (KP0) Paragraph (KP5)
MOVE BY PAGE Sect (KP8) Search Right Angle (ENTER)
MOVE BY WORD Subs (GOLD-ENTER) Sentence (KP7 or GOLD-KP7)
    REPLACE Tab Position (KP8)
WILDCARD FIND WPS Word (KP4 or GOLD-KP4)

o Direction is a buffer attribute---you can use forward direction in one
buffer, and use reverse direction in another. For buffers you create,
    the default direction is FORWARD.

o For editing EVE command lines, the default direction (on character-cell
terminals) is REVERSE. See help on Editing Command Lines.

o You can use a direction-setting key as a terminator key for FIND or
WILDCARD FIND to make the search begin in a particular direction:

       1. Using FIND or WILDCARD FIND, let EVE prompt for the
           search string.

       2. Type the search string, and then press a key defined as
           CHANGE DIRECTION, FORWARD, or REVERSE.

If you press RETURN instead, the search starts in the current direction
    of the buffer.
