DEFINE KEY

 Defines a key to execute an EVE command or an EDT or WPS keypad function.
 You can type the key name on the command line or at the prompt, press the
 key you want to define.

 Steps:

    1.  Use the DEFINE KEY command.

    2.  Type the command you want to bind to a key and press RETURN.

    3.  At the prompt, press the key to be defined.  You can press:

           A function key ....... such as F20, PF4, or Keypad 9
           A GOLD combination ... such as GOLD-A or GOLD-ENTER
           A control key ........ such as CTRL/D
           RETURN ............... to cancel the definition

 Examples with Typed Key Names:

    DEFINE KEY= GOLD-F20  NEXT BUFFER

       Defines the combination of GOLD and F20 to put the next buffer in
       the current window.

    DEFINE KEY= CTRL/D  EDT KP9

       Defines CTRL/D as Keypad 9 in the EDT keypad (that is, Append),
       without having to use SET KEYPAD EDT.  Similarly, you can assign WPS
       keypad definitions, such as GOLD-R for the WPS Ruler key.

 o  Note the equal sign before a typed key name.  EVE key names are usually
    the same as at DCL.  (See help on Names For Keys.) In naming control
    keys or GOLD key combinations, use a dash, slash, or underscore as a
    delimiter in the key name.

 o  Your key definitions override those done by SET KEYPAD commands.  For
    example, if you define keys that EDT or WPS keypad ordinarily defines,
    your definitions override the EDT or WPS definitions.

 o  Key definitions remain in effect throughout your editing session or
    until you redefine the key.  To save key definitions for future
    sessions, put the DEFINE KEY commands in an initialization file or use
    the SAVE EXTENDED EVE command to create a section file.
