EVE SPELL — VMS 5.1-B

 SPELL

Runs DECspell (if it is installed on your system) to check the currently
selected text or the entire buffer.

Note: The SPELL command is not supported on DECwindows unless you invoke
        EVE with the /DISPLAY=CHARACTER_CELL qualifier.

 Steps:

    1. Optionally, select the text you want to check.

    2. Use the SPELL command or with the WPS keypad, press GOLD-S.

    3. Use DECspell commands to correct your text. After making your
corrections, exiting from DECspell resumes your editing session.

o EVE spawns a subprocess to run DECspell and writes out the current
buffer or select range to a temporary file in SYS$SCRATCH.

o When you exit from DECspell, EVE replaces the buffer or range with the
new version of the temporary file, containing any corrections, and
    deletes the temporary file.

o If you select less than a full line, EVE extends the select range to
include the start and end of the line. If you do NOT select any text,
    SPELL checks the entire buffer.

o Do NOT use CTRL/Y while using SPELL. This deletes lines in the
temporary output file, and therefore destroys the selected range or
    current buffer.
