FIND SELECTED
Searches for the currently selected text, rather than for a typed string.
This is particularly useful to find a lengthy mixed-case string without
having to type the text exactly.
Steps:
1. Select the text you want to find. (See help on SELECT.)
2. If necessary, set the direction you want to search in.
(See help on CHANGE DIRECTION.)
3. Use the FIND SELECTED command.
o If the string is found in the opposite direction, EVE asks if you want
go there: If you want to go there, simply press RETURN; otherwise,
type No and press RETURN.
o EVE highlights the found text (and cancels the selection), with the
cursor at the beginning of the string. You can then perform operations
on the found text as on a select range:
Change case...... such as LOWERCASE WORD or the EDT Chngcase key
Edit ............ such as COPY, REMOVE, or the EDT Append key
Reformat ........ with FILL or FILL RANGE
Substitute ...... such as the EDT Subs key or WPS Replace key
OPEN SELECTED ... if you found a file name
o To cancel the highlighting, move off the found range or use RESET.
o To find another occurrence of the same string, press the FIND key twice
or use the FIND NEXT command.
o In typing the FIND command, if you want to search for the word
"selected," put it in quotes or let EVE prompt you for the string.
