OVERSTRIKE MODE

 Sets the mode of the current buffer to overstrike (as opposed to insert).

 o  With OVERSTRIKE MODE, each character you type replaces the existing
    character at the current position -- hence, overstrike mode is
    sometimes called "replace mode" or "type-over mode."

 o  For editing text, the default is INSERT MODE.  The mode of the buffer
    is shown in the status line.

 o  For typing commands, the mode matches your terminal setting.
