ERASE CHARACTER
Erases the character that the cursor is on.
o In INSERT MODE, the rest of the line moves left. In OVERSTRIKE MODE,
the erased character is replaced by a space; the rest of the line does
not move.
o At the end of a line, you erase only the carriage return for that line;
the next line (if any) moves up -- regardless of the mode. This is
useful to erase blank lines to form paragraphs for FILL.
o To put back the erased character, use RESTORE CHARACTER.
