DELETE
Deletes the character to the left of the cursor.
o In INSERT MODE, the rest of the line moves left. In OVERSTRIKE MODE,
the deleted character is replaced by a space; the rest of the line does
not move.
o At the start of a line, you delete only the carriage return for the
previous line, if any -- regardless of the mode. The current line
moves up. This is useful to erase blank lines to form paragraphs for
FILL.
o To put back the deleted character, use RESTORE CHARACTER.
Keys: EVE defines the DELETE key (marked <X] on the keyboard).
