NAME

ypsetup - set up the Yellow Pages (YP) environment

SYNTAX

/etc/ypsetup

DESCRIPTION

The ypsetup(8yp) command is an interactive facility that allows you to set up Yellow Pages (YP) on your system. A local area network must be set up on your system before you can set up YP.

The ypsetup command takes you through the setup process by setting up your default domain name and the nature of your YP environment (master, slave, and or client server), and by placing several administrative files under YP control.

Before running ypsetup, you must know your system’s default domain name and whether your system will be a master, slave, and or client server. If your system is to be the master server for your domain, be sure no other master has been established. If your system is not to be the master server, be sure a master already exists for your domain. Once you know this information, run ypsetup with the system in multiuser mode and answer its questions.
