NAME

dgateway − name of the ULTRIX-32 host (DECnet Access Facility)

DESCRIPTION

The dgateway file contains the ASCII name of the ULTRIX-32 system serving as the intermediate host (gateway system) used by the DECnet ULTRIX commands to connect to the DECnet network.  This gateway system must be connected to the local system through a local area network (TCP/IP) and to DECnet systems through the DECnet network.

The DECnet ULTRIX commands look in the /etc/dgateway file for the gateway system name and account to use.  In addition, users may set up a .dgateway file in their home directory, which then overrides the information in the /etc/dgateway file.

Both the .dgateway and /etc/dgateway files have the following format:

hostname account [ location-of-dgated-program ]

When the DECnet ULTRIX commands log into the gateway machine, they run setuid to the specified user account. If no user account is specified, the default account “guest” is used. The last optional field specifies the pathname for the dgated daemon on the gateway system. The default is /etc/dgated.

FILES

/etc/dgateway
$HOME/.dgateway
