zaptty − zap the controlling tty

zaptty( )

DESCRIPTION

Zaptty will disassociates a process from it’s controlling tty.  The next terminal type device that the process opens will become the new controlling tty.  Zaptty is useful for daemons, since they usually do not want to be associated with any terminal. 

For obvious reasons, this call is restricted to the superuser.
