volconfig − Volume management configuration device
DESCRIPTION
The volconfig device is the interface through which all changes to the volume driver state are performed. This device can only be opened by one process at a time. The initial volume configuration is downloaded into the kernel through this device. The vold process updates the configuration through this device. The vold process was designed to be the sole and exclusive owner of this device. As such, the ioctl interface between vold and the device is considered an internal interface and so is not documented here.
