NAME

uucpd − Manages communications between the uucp program and TCP/IP

SYNOPSIS

uucpd

DESCRIPTION

The uucpd daemon enables uucp connections through Transmission Control Protocol (TCP)/Internet Protocol (IP). This daemon handles the login of uucp connections and starts uucico to process the uucp requests. 

The uucpd daemon is started by the inetd daemon. Make sure that the entry for uucp exists in /etc/inetd.conf. If the entry has a comment character at the beginning of the line, remove the character and restart the inetd daemon. 

FILES

/usr/sbin/uucp/uucpd
Specifies the command path

/usr/lib/uucp
Directory containing the uucp configuration files

/etc/services
Defines Internet socket assignments used by TCP/IP

/etc/hostsContains the hostname table used by TCP/IP

/usr/lib/uucp/Devices
Contains information about available devices

/usr/lib/uucp/Permissions
Contains access permission codes for remote systems

/usr/lib/uucp/Systems
Lists accessible remote systems

/ect/inetd.conf
The default configuration file for the inetd daemon.
