RRN(1L) — MISC REFERENCE MANUAL PAGES
NAME
rrn − remote rn newsreader
SYNOPSIS
rrn [options]
DESCRIPTION
rrn provides the same interface as the rn newsreader, but accesses articles from a remote host on the network instead of from a local spool directory. The nodename of the remote host must be stored in the file /usr/lib/news/nntpserver, or placed in the environment variable NNTPSERVER.
In order for remote posting to work, the file remote posting version of inews must be installed:
ln /usr/lib/news/inews.nntp /usr/lib/news/inews
This will cause locally posted articles to be sent to the nntp host instead of entering the local news spool directory. To restore the standard news system behaviour, install the original inews:
ln /usr/lib/news/inews.spool /usr/lib/news/inews
You must be root to relink the inews program.
