At the present time, the BeOS has difficulties with some logicboards which report that there are multiple processors, even if one or more of their processor slots is empty (they report the number of slots, instead of the number of filled slots).
In other words, when the BIOS lies to us (saying there are two processors when there is only one), we believe it, try to start the second processor, and die when that fails.
It's a defect (in both the BIOS and the BeOS), and we'll add better error catching for this condition in a future release of the BeOS. For now, well, you'll just have to fill that second processor slot...
Note that there are even some logic boards, like the Tyan S1563S, which are really dual processor boards with one slot removed, that exhibit this problem. And, unfortunately, there is no way to add that second processor, since the second slot is removed. These logic boards will need the fix in the BeOS to work.
