The BeOS itself does not at this time ship with a Java runtime. There simply is not a high-quality implementation available to ship. We've investigated various options, which all have prohibitive costs associated with them.

We're looking forward to the day when low-cost or open source alternative implementations are available, and we certainly do want to ship Java support with the BeOS.
