Your first step in determining BeOS compatibility for your hardware is to check the BeOS Ready Systems list:

In general, we're fairly confident about our support for the components in the basic PC AT standard: logic board, 2 serial ports, 1 parallel port, a PCI graphics card, and an IDE interface for the hard drive.
