The BeOS Virtual Tour

Connecting to the Internet

The BeOS speaks TCP/IP, the native language of the Internet. Tools to communicate online are built right in, and many others have been developed by third parties. Shown above:

  • BeMail
A standard POP/SMTP mail client included with the BeOS. Will automatically download your mail, inform you it has arrived, handle attachments, etc.

  • NetPositive
Be's blazingly fast built-in browser handles frames, forms and tables. See the web faster than you've ever seen it before.

  • BeInformed
A third party newsreader application that keeps you connected to the chaos that is Usenet (or any other private NNTP newsgroups).

  • Felix
A third party graphical IRC client.

The BeOS allows easy acces not only to the Internet, but to your machine, via a collection of Network Servers.
