Bug Fixes and Improvements

  • You can browse the Microsoft Network (CIFS) for printers. .

  • Improved Printers preferences panel.

  • Dramatically improved Epson driver:
    • IEEE1284 compliant
    • As much as four times faster than before
    • Stylus Photo six-color printer support
    • Better color matching algorithms.

Transport Layer

      The new transport layer architecture dramatically increases the number of printing configurations that are supported on the BeOS.  Currently, there are six transport types:
  • Parallel port (bidirectional, Intel only).
  • Serial port (bidirectional).
  • Appletalk.
  • Microsoft Network (experimental, client only).
  • USB (Intel only).
  • Print to File.

The table below shows the correspondence between drivers and transports for Intel and PPC:
