BeIDE Drag and Drop

BeIDE Drag and Drop

This section lists all the places in the BeIDE that support drag and drop:

  • Drop text clippings into text windows.

  • Drop folders/files into the Project Window; a new group is created (if possible).

  • Drop a file onto a text window opens the file in a new window.

  • Drop files or folders into the Find Window's Multi-File Search: box.  Folders are recursively searched.

  • Drop folders into the Project/Access Paths panel in the Settings Window.

  • Drag folders from the Project/Access Paths panel and drop them anywhere that accepts files (such as the Find Window).

  • Drag files (or groups) from the Project Window to anywhere that accepts files. Dragging a group drags all the files in the group.

  • Drop colors and fonts into the Editor/Syntax Styling panel in the Settings Window—and drag them out as well.

The ability to drag files out of the Project window is especially powerful.  For example:

  • Drag files (or groups) to a Tracker folder and the files are copied.

  • Drag files to a Terminal window and the names of all the files are listed on the command line.

  • Drag files to the Find Window to create a set of files to search in.
