What support for SCSI will the BeOS for Intel have?

On the Intel Architecture, the SCSI standard is implemented in a much less standard way than on the Macintosh/PowerPC archictecture. This makes the job of supporting SCSI on Intel-based systems problematic. Our initial implementation of SCSI will be limited by time to market considerations.

Note: The following is not a commitment to ship the BeOS for these (or any other) configurations, and Be is not responsible for any purchasing decisions made on this information. Please re-read that sentence.

We hope to support, either in the initial or a future release, most of Adaptec's PCI-based SCSI cards for doing SCSI on the PC (ISA SCSI cards will not be supported). Adaptec cards based on Future Domain technology (e.g., the AHA-2920), however, will not be supported. (Future Domain was purchased by Adaptec, and these cards are really Future Domain cards, not Adaptec cards. Totally different beast.)
