BeOS for Intel: Hardware Requirements | FAQ Number: FAQ-0418 | Last Modified: 2/10/98 | Keywords: BeOS, Intel, Hardware, Requirements, core, logic, chip set | | In general, the more modern your chip set, the better. The initial release of the BeOS for Intel Architecture is tentatively planned to work on systems using the below chip sets (but read the next paragraph carefully -- and check back frequently for updates). Note: This list is preliminary. The following is not a commitment to ship the BeOS for these (or any other) configurations, and Be is not responsible for any purchasing decisions made on this information. Please re-read that sentence. We may also (and likely will) add items to this list before we ship the BeOS for Intel, or in future releases, so don't panic if your favorite isn't here. We know this list is not complete! The following are configurations which we have tested in-house, and appear to work. Again, that is not a commitment, just a statement to indicate on what basis we're making this list: | CPU Type/Number | Chip Set | | Pentium (single) | 430FX 430HX 430TX 430VX | | Pentium Pro (single) | 440FX | | Pentium Pro (dual) | 440FX | | Pentium Pro (quad) | 450GX | | Pentium II (single) | 440FX 440LX | | Pentium II (dual) | 440FX 440LX | | AMD K6 | 430TX | | Cyrix 686mx | | The following are chipsets which have not been tested, but may still work (no promises): | CPU Type/Number | Chip Set | | Pentium (dual) | 430HX | | Pentium Pro (dual) | 450GX 450KX | | Cyrix | 606GXm | |
