NAME
     malloc, free, realloc, calloc, alloca - general memory allocation opera-
     tions

SYNOPSIS

     void *
     malloc(sizet size)

     free(void *ptr)

     realloc(void *ptr, sizet size)

     void *
     calloc(sizet nelem, sizet elsize)

     void *
     alloca(sizet size)

DESCRIPTION
     These functions allocate and free memory for the calling process.  They
     are described in the individual manual pages.

STANDARDS
     These functions, with the exception of alloca() conform to ANSI
