NAME

xdpyinfo − display information utility for X

SYNOPSIS

xdpyinfo [-display displayname]

DESCRIPTION

Xdpyinfo is a utility for displaying information about an X server.  It is used to examine the capabilities of a server, the predefined values for various parameters used in communicating between clients and the server, and the different types of screens and visuals that are available. 

EXAMPLE

The following shows a sample produced by xdpyinfo when connected to display that supports an 8 plane Pseudocolor screen as well as a 1 plane (monochrome) screen.

BUGS

Due to a bug in the Xlib interface, there is currently no portable way to determine the depths of pixmap images that are supported by the server.
