xdpr(1X) xdpr(1X)
NAME xdpr - dumps an X window directly to a printer SYNOPSIS xdpr [file] [-display host:display] [-Pprinter] [-device printer-device] [option]... DESCRIPTION xdpr uses the xwd(1X), xpr(1X), and lpr(1) commands to dump an X window, process it for a laser printer or other type of printer, and print it out on the printer of your choice. The target window is selected by clicking the mouse in the desired window. By default, xdpr prints the largest possi- ble representation of the window on the output page. Options The options to xdpr are the same as those for xpr, xwd, and lpr. The most commonly used options are described below; see the manual pages for xpr, xwd, and lpr for more detailed descriptions of the many options available. -display host:display[.screen] Specifies the host and display number. See X(1X) for details. Normally, xdpr gets the host and display number from the DISPLAY environment variable. -device printer-device Specifies the device type of the printer. Available printer devices are ln03 for the DEC LN03, pp for the IBM 3812 PagePrinter, and ps for any postscript
r r
printer, such as the Apple Laserwriter . The de-
fault is ps. -help Displays a summary of the command syntax. -Pprinter Specifies the printer on which to print. If a printer name is not specified, xdpr (really, lpr) sends your output to the printer specified by the PRINTER environment variable. Be sure that the type of the printer matches the type specified with the -device option. The file argument specifies a file containing a window dump (created by xwd) to print instead of selecting an X window, as explained in xwd(1X). Any other arguments are passed to the xwd, xpr, and lpr com- mands as appropriate for each. November, 1990 1
