xditview(1X) xditview(1X)
NAME xditview - displays device-independent troff files SYNOPSIS xditview [toolkit-option]... [option]... DESCRIPTION xditview displays troff(1) output on an X display. It uses special font metrics that match the font set distributed with X11, so it does not require access to the server machine for font loading. Options The xditview command accepts all the standard X Toolkit command-line options, as described in X(1X), as well as these options: -backingStore level Causes xditview to request a level of backing store from the X server. The level argument can be one of WhenMapped, Always, or NotUseful. Without backing store, redisplay of the window can take up to a second or more. This option causes the server to save the window contents so that when it is scrolled around the viewport, the window is painted from con- tents saved in backing store. -help Displays a summary of the command syntax. -page Specifies the page number of the document to be displayed. The following standard X Toolkit command-line options are commonly used with xditview: -bg color Specifies the color for the background of the win- dow. The default is white. -bd color Specifies the color for the border of the window. The default is black. -bw width Specifies in pixels the width of the border of the window. -display host:display Specifies the X server to contact. See X(1X) for de- tails. -fg color November, 1990 1

xditview(1X) xditview(1X)
Specifies the color to use for displaying text. The default is black. -fn font Specifies the font to be used for displaying widget text. The default is fixed. -geometry geometry Specifies the preferred size and position of the window. See X(1X) for details. -rv Simulates reverse video by swapping the foreground and background colors. -xrm resource-string Specifies a resource string to be used. X defaults The xditview command uses the Dvi widget in the X Toolkit. It understands all the core resource names and classes as well as these: font (class Font) Specifies the font to be used for error messages. foreground (class Foreground) Specifies the default foreground color. height (class Height) Specifies the height of the window. width (class Width) Specifies the width of the window. Using xditview with troff To build a file suitable for use with xditview, use the dev- ice description in devX75: troff -TX75 ditroff-input | xditview LIMITATIONS The xditview command can be easily confused by attempting to display a file constructed for the wrong device. Support for pic(1) is not yet implemented. NOTES Copyright 1989, Massachusetts Institute of Technology. See X(1X) for a full statement of rights and permissions.
