NAME uucleanup - removes old files from the uucp spool directory SYNOPSIS uucleanup [-Cdays] [-Ddays] [-mstring] [-odays] [-ssystem] [-Wdays] [-Xdays] [-xdebug-level] ARGUMENTS -Cdays Removes any files beginning with C. that are as old as or older than the value specified by days and sends notification to the user who requested the transfer. If you do not use this option, uucleanup uses a default of 7. -Ddays Removes any files beginning with D. that are as old as or older than the value specified by days. The uucleanup command attempts to deliver mail messages and runs rnews when appropriate. If you do not use this option, uucleanup uses a default of 7. -mstring Causes uucleanup to include string in the warning message generated by the -W option. -odays Removes files that are as old as or older than the value specified by days. The set of files consists of those files that do not have a C., D., or X. prefix. The warning is sent as a mail message and includes the job identification number and, in the case of mail, the mail message. If you do not use this option, uucleanup uses a default of 1. See the -m option for a way to include information that tells the user whom to contact to resolve the problem. -xdebug-level Causes uucleanup to be run with debugging turned on and at the debug level specified by debug-level. of debug level is a number from 0 to 9. Higher numbers produce more detailed debugging information. -Xdays Removes any files beginning with X. that are as old as or older than the value specified by days. In the unlikely event that a corresponding file beginning with D. is present, it is handled in accordance with the -D option. If you do not specify the -X option, uucleanup uses a default of 2. DESCRIPTION uucleanup scans the directories in /usr/spool/uucp for old files and takes action to handle them in a useful way. The actions include sending a mail message to inform the user who requested the transmission of a file that the remote system cannot be reached, returning undeliverable mail, delivering rnews files addressed to the local system, and removing files that are older than a specified, or a default, date. You can use cron and the shell script uudemon.cleanup to run uucleanup automatically.
