NAME mklost+found - makes a directory named lost+found to be used by fsck SYNOPSIS mklost+found DESCRIPTION mklost+found creates a directory named lost+found in the current directory. It also creates a number of empty files in that directory and then removes them so that there will be empty slots for fsck. Run this command immediately after first mounting a new file system and changing to a directory in the new file system. For small file systems, it is sufficient (and much faster) simply to make a lost+found directory. You can recover up to 30 files in it. LIMITATIONS The function of the mklost+found command should be performed automatically by mkfs. FILES /bin/mklost+found Executable file SEE ALSO fsck(1M), mkfs(1M) January 1992 1
