NAME slip.hosts - map user names to host addresses of slip client SYNOPSIS /etc/slip.hosts DESCRIPTION The slip.hosts file must be configured on the slip server to establish slip connections between the slip client and the slip host. slip(1M) is a program that assigns a tty line to a network interface for a point-to-point TCP/IP link. Only the system administrator of the slip host can modify the /etc/slip.hosts file, which contains the Internet ad- dress and user name for each user with a slip connection to the slip server. A sample slip.hosts file is # dialup slip.hosts table # maps usercodes to host addresses # 128.120.253.1 joe 128.120.253.2 chris 128.120.253.3 mike 128.120.253.4 linda The Internet address in the first field is to be used when the user specified in the second field invokes slip.
