NAME fs - file systems DESCRIPTION A/UX(Reg.) supports System V file systems (SVFS) and Berke- ley 4.2 file systems (UFS). (See svfs(4) and ufs(4) for de- tails about file-system organization.) A/UX does not sup- port Macintosh(Reg.) file systems as mountable file systems. However, the A/UX finder may read and write these file sys- tems. Please see Inside Macintosh, Volume II for a descrip- tion of the original Macintosh file system and Inside Macin- tosh, Volume IV for a description of the hierarchical file system (HFS). mkfs is used to create SVFS file sytems. newfs is used to create UFS file systems. tunefs can be used to change the dynamic parameters of a UFS.
