     NAME
          tan, dtan - Fortran tangent intrinsic function

     SYNOPSIS
          real r1, r2
          double precision dp1, dp2

          r2=tan(r1)

          dp2=dtan(dp1)
          dp2=ftan(dp1)

     DESCRIPTION
          tan returns the real tangent of its real argument.  dtan re-
          turns the double-precision tangent of its double-precision
          argument.  The generic tan function becomes dtan as required
          with a double-precision argument.
