NAME errdead - extract error records from a crash dump SYNOPSIS /etc/errdead dumpfile [namelist] DESCRIPTION When the system detects hardware errors, it generates an er- ror record containing pertinent information about the error. If the error-logging daemon errdemon(1M) is not active or if the system crashes before the record is placed in the error file, the system holds the error information in a local buffer. errdead examines a system dump, extracts error records, and passes them to errpt(1M) for analysis. The argument dumpfile specifies the file (or memory) to ex- amine. You can specify the system namelist with namelist; /unix is the default. FILES /etc/errdead /unix system namelist /usr/bin/errpt analysis program /usr/tmp/errXXXXXX temporary file DIAGNOSTICS Diagnostics may come from either errdead or errpt.
